The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Horse Armor Compatibility: Slof's Armored White Stallion Unnerfed & Patched

==============================

Version 1.3

by dev_akm

==============================
DESCRIPTION
==============================

This mod has two parts, both of which are intended for use with Bethesda's official DLCHorseArmor plugin:

* Slof's Horses Armored

The first part of this mod is a revised version of Slof's Horses Armored. The changes improve compatibility with other mods that also alter the DLCHorseArmor plugin, including Quarn's Unofficial Official Mod Patch (UOMP) and JOG's Official Plugins Unnerfed.

* Knights of the White Stallion

The second part is a compatibility patch for Slof's Horses Armored and the excellent Knights of the White Stallion mod, by Cleitanious (AKA Marine Okeefe, Modder 300, ByblosHex), Sammy Grey, and Pain_KillerRider. This add-on lets you:

- Purchase Horse Armor for your White Stallion
- Call the armored versions with your Call White Stallion spell
- Uses AlienSlof's better horse meshes and textures for the stallions.

The main reason I made this mod is to allow greater compatibility for Slof's Horses with other mods that alter the horse armor, especially JOG's Official Plugins Unnerfed, which previously couldn't be used with Slof's version. Also, I really enjoyed the Knights of the White Stallion mod and wanted to be able to purchase horse armor for my White Stallion.

==============================
UPDATES
==============================

* Slof's Horses Armored

The armored horses now all use the Saddlebags from Slof's Horses 1.4. The Horse Armor Compatibility 1.3 update fixes some problems in the previous version with horses still using meshes from Slof's Horses 1.3 that are no longer present in Slof's Horses 1.4. I also removed the saddlebags from the Elven Armor horses due to some bad mesh clipping problems.

* Knights of the White Stallion

This option now supports Knights of the White Stallion 4.4. The Horse Armor Compatibility 1.3 update fixes the missing stallion mesh. It requires the meshes and textures from Slof's Horses 1.4 and the Knights of the White Stallion 4.4 plugin file:

300_White Stallion 4.esp

as a master file. The game will CTD on launch if 300_White Stallion 4.esp is missing.

==============================
COMPATIBILITY
==============================

This mod is fully compatible with:

- Slof's Horses Base 1.4 (normal, essential, and armored legion versions)
- Slof's Horses Nightmare 1.4
- Knights of the White Stallion 4.4.
- Official Plugins Unnerfed by JOG
- SM Plugin Refurbish by Strategy Master
- Unofficial Official Mod Patch by Quarn
- MD Saddle Bags v2.6 rc2 by Maboroshi Daikon

This mod should generally be placed after all of those mods in your load-order.

* Using MD Saddle Bags v2.6 with HorseCommands option.

You'll need to be especially careful about the load-order with some of the modules from MD Saddle Bags. You'll have no problems with MD's DLCHorseArmor+ArmoredImperialSlofsHorses.esp, DLCHorseArmor+SBLite.esp or MD_Saddle_Bags_Lite_v2.esp.

However, if you use MD's DLCHorseArmor+HorseCommands.esp, then there are some overlaps with DLCHorseArmor_300WhiteStallion.esp. They will work together if you're willing to tweak your load order a bit depending on what you want to do.

For the best results under normal circumstances, make sure HorseCommands is loading after DLCHorseArmor_300WhiteStallion.esp, so your load-order looks like this:

DLCHorseArmor_300WhiteStallion.esp
DLCHorseArmor+HorseCommands.esp

However, when you're ready to purchase Horse Armor for your White Stallion, you'll need to temporarily reverse this load order, so it looks like this:

DLCHorseArmor+HorseCommands.esp
DLCHorseArmor_300WhiteStallion.esp

Do this before entering the stables. This will ensure the scripts at the Chestnut Handy Stables are aware of the White Stallion options. After you've got your Armored White Stallion, you can revert the load order to place HorseCommands last. This will ensure that the scripts at the Chestnut Handy Stables are once again aware of the HorseCommands changes, so any other armored horses you purchase will be initialized properly for HorseCommands.

Note that you will not be able to use HorseCommands on your White Stallion, but fortunately the Summon White Stallion spell will provide some of the same features.

==============================
REQUIREMENTS
==============================

DLCHorseArmor.esp is required. The game will CTD on launch if it is missing.

* Slof's Horses Armored

Requires the meshes and textures from Slof's Horses Base 1.4:
Slof's Horses Base 1.4

If you use the Slof's Horses Nightmare option, you'll need those files as well:
Slof's Horses Nightmare

* Knights of the White Stallion

If you want to use the Knights of the White Stallion compatibility option, then you'll need to download and install that mod, too:
Knights of the White Stallion

The game will CTD on launch if 300_White Stallion 4.esp is missing.

* Recommended Options:

MD Saddlebags 2.6 by MaboroshiDaikon

Official Plugins Unnerfed by JOG

Unofficial Official Mod Patch by Quarn

==============================
INSTALLATION & DETAILS
==============================

Unpack the archive and move or copy the ESP files you want to use into your \Oblivion\Data\ folder, then activate them.

* Slof's Horses Armored

There are four files corresponding to the variants Slof had in her original Slof's Horses Armored download. The major difference here is that these files do not replace the DLCHorseArmor.esp -- in fact, they now require that the user have DLCHorseArmor.esp installed since they use it as a master. These files are:

DLCHorseArmor_SlofBase.esp
DLCHorseArmor_SlofEssential.esp
DLCHorseArmor_SlofNightmare.esp

Don't use these all at the same time. You must use either SlofBase or SlofEssential -- but not both!. If you also use Slof's Nightmare version, then add either SlofNightmare to the load order after SlofBase or SlofEssential to override the settings for Shadowmere. I removed the old DLCHorseArmor_SlofNightmareEssential.esp since it wasn't actually any different.

These plugins will work regardless of whether or not you've unnerfed the DLCHorseArmor.esp with JOG's mod, and they are compatible with Quarn's UOMP DLCHorseArmor - Unofficial Patch.esp -- how's that for a confusing mouthful?

You can add these plugins to your load order anywhere after the original/unnerfed DLCHorseArmor.esp.

They must also load after the UOMP patch because recent versions of UOMP change the armored horses. The UOMP changes (which allow the armored horses to find their way home to the stable where you originally purchased them) are included in version 1.1 of this mod.

* Knights of the White Stallion

DLCHorseArmor_300WhiteStallion.esp works with Knights of the White Stallion 4.4. It requires both DLCHorseArmor.esp and 300_White Stallion 4.esp as masters. It alters the three White Stallion horse entries from 300_White Stallion.esp to use Slof's horse parts and creates new armored versions of the player's white stallion. It also alters the HorseArmor scripts to let you purchase the armored versions and alters the Summon White Stallion spell script to call whichever version of the Stallion you last rode. You can't call your stallion if you haven't ridden it recently (i.e., if it's not the last horse you rode).

Make sure the DLCHorseArmor_300WhiteStallion.esp loads after DLCHorseArmor.esp and 300_White Stallion 4.esp.
