Da Mage - Textures

Bomret - Normal Maps

Pixelivion is an attempt to help those with lower end PCs gain a FPS improvement when playing
Oblivion. It does this by doing two things. First, nearly all the game textures have been
downsized by an amount to make them quite small, for example a textures that was 1024x1024
pixels is now 64x64 or lower. The second part of this is the inclusion of Bomret's DeNormal
Mapper, which removes all the normal maps from the game. This all means that the game can get
a good FPS increase.

Here are some tests I have run on my Non-gaming Laptop which has these specs:
____________________________________________________
Processor: Intel Core 2 Dou CPU T5250 @ 1.50GHz
RAM: 1Gig
Video Card: Moblie Intel 965 Express
Sound Card: Unknown (Some onboard Card I think)
OS: Vista Home Premium 32-bit
____________________________________________________

Here is the FPS from the tests:

Nothing (Vanilla Oblivion):

City Cell - 10
Interior - 14
Exterior - 8
Exterior Fight - 5
Interior Fight - 9

With Texture Pack:

City Cell - 15
Interior - 22
Exterior - 12
Exterior Fight - 10
Interior Fight - 13

It shows a great increase with the texture pack and when I add Streamline it improved even
more. By using a number of preformance mods I believe I could get the game running on this
setup quite well, even though it should never have been able to get past Ultra Low settings.

The tests happened with the game on Meduim Graphics settings with the resolution at 640x480
and with distant trees turned on. It still has good results when the resolution is turned up
to 800x600, but the FPS decreases a bit more.

This mod is still in BETA form as these are thousands of textures and I havent had the time
to test them all yet. This means that you WILL encounter bugs in it, like oversized textures
over-blurred images and things like that. If you see something like that I want to know about
it so I can fix it up.

-----------------
Installation
-----------------

To install this mod it is best if you have OBMM installed as its Achieve Invalidator is
priceless. It is also recommended that you make this mod into an Omod as it will be easier to
uninstall later if you decide you dont want it anymore.

If you dont make it an Omod:
Copy the 'textures' folder to your "...\oblivion\data" folder replacing any exsisting textures

----------------
Unistallation
----------------

This is REALLY hard to unistall if you havent made it an Omod. If you arent using it your best
bet is to delete your textures folder eentirely and replace anything that other mods have
placed in there.

This isnt a very good method but its the bst i know of.

------------------
Incompatiblities
------------------

Errrr.......everything?

Really, anything that adds new models or texture to the game will look out of place in this
new pixelated world. You will still be able to have mods that dont add new things as they will
use the vanilla stuff.

Shivering Ilses and the other DLCs are not compatible in the sense that those textures havent
been altered, but they will still run, just they will be detailed still, and may cause lag.

For mod like the unoffical patches it may be wise to reinstall this texture pack after them.
Those mods change some in-game textures which means it will overwriting the ones from this
texture pack, but if you re-install this texture pack again, it undo those texture changes.
