About this mod

Simply place your enchanted goods in the altar, then close it and cast a \"Dispel\" spell on it. Any enchanted items placed in the altar will be stripped of their enchantment, and a very special \"Invert Sigil Stone\" will be added to the altar\'s inventory, containing the old item\'s exact enchantment!

Enchantment Splitter

version 1.1

By Haydn "Candlemaster" Harach

OBSE version 19 or higher required (Made using OBSE 20 beta 5 - if OBSE 19 doesn't work, use the latest version of 20)

Changes in 1.1:

-I've fixed weapon enchantments! Your invert sigil stones will now properly remember a weapon's charge information. This has been tested, and does work, though it maybe have unexpected results (for example, a sword's enchantment had less max charge than the original, but the same number of uses. GO figure?). I have not tested 0-charge enchantments - No guarantees with them.

-I've added a patch that adds an altar to Froscrag Spire (the official Wizard's Tower DLC from Bethesda). There's an alternate patch for people who use Frostctrag Reborn. In order to make it work you need to buy Special Magetallow Candles from the Mystic Emporium (same place you get the rest of Frostcrag's stuff). Otherwise, works exactly the same as the one in the Arcane University.

-I've added a special "No Cheat" version. This version stops you from splitting the enchantment of any item that you did not enchant yourself. (okay, actually it just checks to see whether it's a cloned form, and if it isn't it skips the item. Same effect though.)

Installation:

Copy the "meshes" and "textures" folders as well as "Enchantment Splitter.esp" to your "...\Oblivion\Data\" folder. If you want to use the "No Cheat" version, copy the "Enchantment Splitter.esp" inside the "No Cheat" folder and overwrite the one in "...\Oblivion\Data\" with it. If you use the Wizard's Tower DLC (DLCFrostcrag.esp), use the appropriate plugin inside the "Frostcrag" folder.

Description:

This was originally intended to be included as a reward for a house/quest mod I'm working on, but since I don't know when I'll be able to finish, let alone release, that house mod, I'm releasing this to the public so that this miraculous script doesn't have to go to waste. This mod adds a very special "Enchantment Splitting Altar" to the arcane university, in the building where you go to make custom enchantments (Chironasium Upper Level).

What does it do?

Simply place your enchanted goods in the altar, then close it and cast a "Dispel" spell on it (The same way you cast "Soul Trap" to activate a Black Soul Gem altar). Any enchanted items placed in the altar will be stripped of their enchantment, and a very special "Invert Sigil Stone" will be added to the altar's inventory, containing the old item's exact enchantment! Be careful when you use it - a dangerous shock will hit you when you split an enchantment. You can split multiple enchantments at once, but the spell's magnitude multiplies with each item you add.

Why would I want to do that?

Say you download a beautiful clothing or armor mod, but you like the enchantments on your current armor better. Simply use this to strip the enchantment away from the old armor, and add it to the new stuff! Say you find a wonderful artifact cuirass with amazing enchantments but horrid armor rating, simply move the enchantment onto something better! You can even use this to re-name your items: Just add a junk enchantment to the item (choosing it's new name), then use the altar to remove the enchantment. The possibilities are endless!

What CAN'T it do? (intentional exceptions)

- The enchantment splitter will not work on arrows (or any ammunition, for that matter) or on scrolls. Scrolls and arrows are meant to be used once, then never used again. Besides, you can't actually enchant scrolls or arrows anyway.

- The enchantment splitter will not work on staves. Unenchanted staves don't exist in vanilla oblivion, and I'd rather not upset the balance.

- The enchantment splitter will not work on any item with a "Script Effect" effect. The reason for this is that usually, the script effect is built just for the item it's on, and is not supposed to be applied to anything else. This includes Script Effect enchantments on armor, which although they do nothing, usually only exist to bring attention to a scripted effect on the armor itself, which the enchantment splitter would NOT affect.

What doesn't work like it should? (known issues)

- In order to work, this mod creates a number of cloneforms, which are stored in your save game. This is very much unavoidable, as without using CloneForm, this would be completely impossible. Every item you split will create one or two cloneforms (two if the item isn't already a cloned form, one if you enchanted it yourself). In the grand scheme of things this isn't much, as normal everyday alchemy practice will usually yield more cloned forms anyway.

Dont you think this is a tad bit overpowered?

Just a tad. This was never meant to be something that anybody off the street could use, I originally wanted to put it at the end of a very long quest/dungeon. If you don't want to feel like you're cheating, feel free to use the "No Cheat" version of the mod - This version stops you from using the splitter on any item that you

did not enchant yourself.

Could I use this script in my own mod?

Absolutely! I'm distributing this more as a modder's resource than anything, to be honest. You don't need to ask me for permission, but if you do use something (script, textures, etc.), please include me in the readme ("Candlemaster" is sufficient).
