About this mod

A small mod that adds some Roman inspired armor to Stonewall Shields in the Market District of the Imperial City.

V1.2a: Redid the cheek pieces of the helmets so that they are less angular and look more Roman. Redid the red crest texture so that the metal part blended in more with the rest of the helmet. Renamed the Imperator armor to Praetorian armor and added a new Praetorian helmet as well as a black praetorian cape to go with them. The old Imperator helmet is still included.

V1.2: Added a new, more historical centurion helmet and a legionary helmet to go with it. Also added a new legionary cuirass with a red tunic instead of the leather cingulum, as well as a new vibrant red cape to go with both of them.

V1.1a: Centurion Helmet now has a red crest, along with a new Legatus helmet which features the vertical crest instead of the horizontal. Note: If upgrading from the previous version, use the new file esp (Legionary Armor) and delete the old one (Romanesque Armor). Also, fixed the mesh files so that the textures are now linked to the correct directory. Many thanks to XenoGenesis for pointing this out.

This is my first foray into the modding world, so please do not expect too much out of it. This mod simply adds some new Roman inspired armor for sale at Stonewall Shields. Included are a basic legionary set, that has been somewhat worn. While the greaves, gauntlets, and boots are all the same for this, there are two types of cuirasses: the legionary one that features the breastplate with a red tunic, and the legatus one that features a leather skirt instead of the tunic. There are also three types of helmets: the ordinary imperial legionary helmet, a centurion helmet, and a legatus helmet. In addition to these, there is also a set of armor that is black in color (what I call the imperator set) for the stealthy types among you.

A few warnings: there is no female version of this armor. Putting either of these armor sets on a female character will result in the armor looking exactly like the male version. Since I do not play any female characters and I am still a bit of a noob at Blender, I have no plans on making any female armor meshes. Also, the global models and menu icons of both armor sets are the same as vanilla iron models. Once again, I don't really have any desire to change this since I never drop the armor anyway, and the menu icons don't bother me at all.

Installation:
Simply extract all files to your Oblivion/Data folder and check off in the Data files option when starting Oblivion or in using Oblivion Mod Manager. You must extract the main Legionary Armor file before extracting the Legionary Armor Update files. Be sure to let the Update files replace the ones in the main file.

NOTE: There is an excellent mod out there by the name of Bella Moretta (http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4754) that provides not only well made gladius and spatha swords, but also a high quality Roman scutum. I would upload my modified versions of these items, except that I cannot since I need permission from the creator Grumblepunk. And seeing as he does not appear to visit this site anymore, I won't be getting permission from him anytime in the near future. Bit of a shame really.

Many thanks to theghost0079 for his chainmail retexture of the cloth/leather on the iron armor. The armor wouldn't look the same without it.

Many thanks also go to someone1074 for his excellent modders resource capes and cloaks file. There is a vibrant red cape included that I edited from his files.

Permission
I would be very surprised and flattered if you wanted to use my armor for your own mod, so feel free to do so. Just so long as you credit me and theghost0079 for our parts in creating it.
