About this mod

A texture replacement for most buildings, interiors and exteriors, furnishings, rocks and timber. It\'s heavily saturated and colourful. NOT hig res - just standard Vanilla res. Intended as a complimentary mod to my Lush and Gaudy Landscape and Grass and Tree Mod.

*Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod*

This is a texture replacement for buildings, furnishings and interiors I knocked together to match my Lush and Gaudy Landscape and Grass and Tree Mod.

Much like that mod, this wasn't originally intended to be released publicly.

But, for anyone like myself who fancies some real colour in the game, I decided it wouldn't hurt to get it out there.

-----------------------

*What Does It Do?*

The buildings are all sporting brighter and lighter stone and plaster, interior and exterior.

The timberwork for buildings and furniture is now very rich and much darker reddish-brown.

Statues are whiter and brighter.

The Imperial City is far whiter and cleaner. Even the basements are looking decidedly sanitary.

The Tapestries, carpets, curtains, bedding, etc, are all more saturated and brighter, plus some colours have been changed / swapped.

Even the poorest houses are heavily tarted up, with rich timbers and bright fabrics.

Most bits of roofing are recoloured to be more saturated and colourful.

Many rocks have also been brightened up to match the new cleaner look.

Most of the paintings are (thanks to the rat-bag in me) some pictures of my own - everything from my own real life paintings to some of my favourite screenshots.

----------------------

PLEASE NOTE: The Shivering Isles have NOT been touched - however, there is now an optional pack to do that :)

COMPATIBILITY:

Works a treat with Open Cities Reborn.
Also works beautifully with Better Cities.
And it looks lovely with all the Unique Landscapes, too ;)

----------------------

There are still some vanilla crates and other little bits around the place, but the majority of the furniture, walls, doors, rocks, picture frames, fabrics, flags and general furnishings are altered.

I suspect I've missed the odd patch, but for the most part this will provide a pretty lavish look for buildings and interiors to match my Lush and Gaudy Landscape and Grass and Tree Mod.

Also included is a folder of textures for users of Open Cities Reborn. That was actually the mod that inspired me to do this, since I was so impressed with OCR. The textures I used for this optional compatibility tweak are entirely the work of Arthmoor - all I did was recolour them with his permission.

Many thanks to him for allowing me to do that :)

Please be aware this is strictly a Vanilla res mod. There's no high resolution textures in here. No performance hit. It's not compatible with Qarl's pack. It's all about colour and that's it.

If you use it with Really Textured Normal Maps for Vanilla or another good normal map mod, it looks perfectly respectable. I can't run high res mods and I have no interest in taking this mod to that sort of level. If you're the type who's content with Vanilla textures and you like colour, then this mod is for you.

If you're a fan of ultra high res textures and don't like heavily saturated colours, do not touch this mod.

REQUIREMENTS:
OBMM

(You don't need my Lush and Gaudy Landscape and Grass and Tree Mod, but I highly recommend it. This was designed to be a companion mod for it and it's
really not colour coordinated with Vanilla Oblivion. But to each his own ;)

Alternate Main File:

Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Semi-Vanilla Version

This is a Semi-Vanilla version of my Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod.

The Interior and Exterior stone work of this is Vanilla (i.e dirty grey.)

But the plaster, roofing, furniture, tapestries, carpets and timber are all mine - richly saturated and colourful. Same as the original version of the mod.

*What Does It Do?*

The buildings are all sporting brighter plaster, interior and exterior.

All the stone work is Vanilla - it has NOT been touched in this version.

The timberwork for buildings and furniture is now very rich and much darker reddish-brown.

Most of the paintings are (thanks to the rat-bag in me) some pictures of my own - everything from my own real life paintings to some of my favourite screenshots.

Once again, included is a folder of textures for users of Open Cities Reborn.

Please be aware this is strictly a Vanilla res mod. There's no high resolution textures in here. No performance hit. It's all about colour and that's it. Unlike the other version, because this one replaces less textures, you could technically use it over the top of something like Qarl's for some added high quality elements. But, much like every other mod of mine, please make sure you install this LAST / over the top of whatever other texture replacer you're using.

WARNING:

If you were using my original Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod you will have to uninstall it before installing this version. If you skip this step, do NOT complain about my old bright stonework popping up in the game. Delete the other version, clean it up with OBMM as instructed, and then install this version fresh.

You fail to do that and this will look like shit and will not work as intended.

REQUIREMENTS:
OBMM

(You don't need my Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod for this to work - this version is 100% stand alone.)

Alternate Main File:

Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Semi-Vanilla Qarl Version

This is a Semi-Vanilla QTP3 Redimized compatible version of my Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod.

The Interior and Exterior stone work of this is Vanilla in colour (i.e. dirty grey.) And a large portion of it is Qarl's higher res textures. This is purely a favour to FatalIllusion who wanted a Qarl-friendly pack. These textures are from the redimized version of QTP3.

Not all of them are high res. Some required textures were absent from the pack, so those that were missing are filled in with my recoloured Vanilla textures.

*What Does It Do?*

The buildings are all sporting brighter plaster, interior and exterior.

All the stone work is Vanilla in terms of colour - it has NOT been touched in this version.

A vast majority of the textures are redimized Qarl ones. Recoloured by me to suit the mod. They are NOT my textures.

The timberwork for buildings and furniture is now very rich and much darker reddish-brown.

The Tapestries, carpets, curtains, bedding, etc, are all more saturated and brighter, plus some colours have been changed / swapped.

In this version, some of the carpet and timber colours are not the same as the original versions of the mod due to working with different textures.

Even the poorest houses are heavily tarted up, with rich timbers and bright fabrics.

Most bits of roofing are recoloured to be more saturated and colourful.

Most of the paintings are (thanks to the rat-bag in me) some pictures of my own - everything from my own real life paintings to some of my favourite screenshots.

Once again, included is a folder of textures for users of Open Cities Reborn to keep things compatible and tidy.

Please be aware that although this version is largely using Qarl's textures, there's still some vanilla ones which cover certain things that were absent in the QTP3 Redimized pack.

REQUIREMENTS:
OBMM
QTP3 Redimized

Needless to say, you should have QTP3 Redimized since this is designed to go with it. If you're not wanting a compatibility with that high res pack, then just use the regular semi-Vanilla version of the mod which is a smaller download and no performance hit.

This is ONLY intended for QTP3 Redimized users. I haven't included the normal maps, since - I'll say it again - this is meant to be used with QTP3 Redimized which has all the normal maps inc. Just whack this mod over the top and you're good to go.

Optional File:

Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors For SI Bomret Version

This brings my Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors to the Shivering Isles in a higher resolution than the original pack.

It will recolour most of the timber, roofing, carpets, tapestries, stone work and even some nasty sewage.

Aside from tapestries and some furniture, I haven't touched the palace building itself, interior or exterior. This will do Bliss, Crucible, Passwall and all the small towns. Interior and Exterior.

Unlike the original version, this one is using Bomret's higher res textures from Bomret Texture Pack for Shivering Isles mod. This textures are NOT mine - they are 100% his work, all I did (as usual) was recolour them.

This version of the mod is designed to be used with Bomret Texture Pack for Shivering Isles, for people who prefer higher res textures.

REQUIREMENTS:

OBMM
Shivering Isles
Bomret Texture Pack for Shivering Isles (Yes, you need this because the whole point of this version was to be compatible with it - if you don't care about higher res textures, then just use the original version of my mod. As usual, I haven't included normal maps. This is designed only for use with the stated mod. It's pretty pointless on its own.)

Optional File:

Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors For SI Ultra Bright

This brings my Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors to the Shivering Isles - in a VERY bright and cheerful way.

It will recolour most of the timber, roofing, carpets, tapestries, stone work and even some nasty sewage.

This time the palace, inside and out, has been given a once-over.

The whole look is universal - sandy and bright stone work, green roofing, rich timbers, bright green fabrics trimmed with gold. Basically no contrast between Crucible and Mania. I wanted everything generic, and to hell with variety and opposing forms of madness. Much like The Golden Isles, this one was designed for my own pleasure - I'm only releasing it just in case someone else likes it. I wanted something to match the gaudiness and uniformity of the Golden Isles.

I don't pretend anyone will or should like this. As usual, I'm throwing it out there for anyone who wants some insane colour.

REQUIREMENTS:
OBMM
Shivering Isles

(Note, you do NOT need my Lush and Gaudy Shivering Isles mod, but I highly recommend it or The Golden Isles since this interior and exterior pack is made to suit it.)

Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors For SI

This brings my Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors to the Shivering Isles.

It will recolour most of the timber, roofing, carpets, tapestries, stone work and even some nasty sewage.

Aside from tapestries and some furniture, I haven't touched the palace building itself, interior or exterior. I'm planning to do that in a separate pack. This will do Bliss, Crucible, Passwall and all the small towns. Interior and Exterior.

REQUIREMENTS:
OBMM
Shivering Isles

(Note, you do NOT need my Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod for this to work - it is 100% stand alone. Nor do you need my Lush and Gaudy Shivering Isles mod, but I highly recommend it since this interior and exterior pack is made to suit it.)

----------------------------
Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors For SI Ultra Bright ramble:

This one was just for me. Sod contrasting realms. I wanted something to match my Golden Isles.

Bright green fabrics, green roofing, sandy coloured buildings, no grimness, no grime, a nice sandy palace. Entirely selfish and biased, but I love it :)

----------------------------

Lush and Gaudy Interiors and Exteriors For SI ramble:

Why didn't I do the palace? Because I can do it separately and I don't want to ram a white building down anyone's throat who doesn't want it. And the Vanilla Palace actually fits as a compromise between what I've done to Bliss and Crucible.

Bliss has taken a brighter turn. Vivid yellow-green roofing, deep rich timbers, pale sandy and white coloured stone work, white statues, with lavish interiors filled with red and gold tapestries and carpets. I wanted it to be an extreme contrast from Crucible.

Speaking of which, in a very odd turn for me, Crucible has taken an even darker and grimmer tone than the original. Very Gothic, in fact. The buildings are deep, dark grey. The interiors are turquoise with gold and copper accents. The nasty pebbles on the paths are gone and have been replaced with tiling. The statues are also darker, the woodwork is deep and rich and the metals are copper-ish red-brown.

Passwall and the smaller towns are a blend of my Bliss and Crucible. Passwall has almost black walls with copper roofing, while the buildings are sporting a combination of dark grey stone work and very pale grey walls for the exterior. The timber is -as usual- rich and dark. The roofing - to contrast the fact the walls around Passwall are Crucible almost-black - are striking Green. The interiors are bright and paler stone work, again a reflection of Mania.

It's an odd balance of bright and grim for me, but I'm quite fond of it :)

----------------------------

Lush and Gaudy Interior and Exterior Mod ramble:

Why did I choose to go so white and bright?

Because it's my taste, I don't pretend that it's anyone else's. I always envisaged the Imperial City as a rather divine place, and dingy grey just didn't cut it. Same with a lot of other things.

I tried to make each town unique. The darkened and reddish woodwork is universal - but so was the dingy grey woodwork of Vanilla Oblivion, so it's not as though I've cut any variety.

Skingrad is sporting copper and cyan roofing. An odd combination, I know, but the blue gives it an usual twist.

Cheydinal and Chorrol have deep reddish brown roofing. I didn't want anything overly exotic for those - I wanted them to be quite traditional.

IC still has light blue roofing, since it suited the 'heavenly' and clean look. And it also matches the blue-tinged cobblestones.

Anvil retained it's orange roofing, but it's been brightened up a bit.

Bravil is just richer timber. I've never liked it as a town and never will, but it does have a bit of a logging community look about it now, at least.

Leyawiin came up a treat, in my opinion. The greenish gold roofing was an absolute fluke - I slid the colour slider the wrong way in Photoshop and I fell in love with the result. Before OCR, I actually hated Leyawiin. Now I think it's become one of my favourite towns. Most of the buildings are very Tudor style, with the odd red one here or there. (I love those red ones - the red is original but I think it's been brought out nicely with the new timber and roofing.)

Anvil is probably the least changed of all the towns. The exterior is a bit brighter but for the most part it's retained more of its original feel than the other towns. I do like the interiors - same dark furniture, white walls, sandy coloured flooring and woodwork.

There's a hint of sterility about the IC and certain other places...but that's intentional. I especially love the upstairs of Skingrad Castle: Very pure, almost white stone work and blood red carpets and banners. I took the brightness of the fabric down, but made the red much deeper and stronger. Very bold, but for it works. Same with the IC banners - blood red against an almost-white city.

The blue-ish paths in the IC were thrown in because they do have a somewhat unearthly element to them.

I suppose my whole "Lush and Gaudy" concept is all about unrealistic perfection. (Albeit a very biased idea of 'perfection'.)

I like very light and bright stone work, so I went with the whim of my taste on that one.

I was sick of the poorhouses being dingy - and even more sick of the rich houses being drab.

I cut out most of the regular shades of blue from the tapestries. Purely a matter of taste, but turquoise is a hell of a lot easier to match with other colours than sapphire blue. I went with a lot of oranges, golds, yellow-ish greens, dark pinks and purples and turquoises. Seeing the carpets finally get some gold trim really got them looking rather lavish.

The timber is all very rich - mainly a reflection of how I have my own furniture stained in real life. Dark and reddish is very much my 'thing'.

I simply don't play games to stare at washed out colours. Perhaps it's a throwback to my early gaming days of the insane colours of the MD era.

The paintings were pure impishness on my part. Anyone planning to help the Countess of Chorrol find that picture of her husband will be in for an interesting surprise!

The rest are a mixture of favoured screenshots, some of my own paintings from real life, and one other little bit of evil on my part which pops up in Skingrad Castle.

I have to say working on this mod was huge fun, largely because I thought it was really going to be just for myself (probably wouldn't have included those pictures otherwise - and yet, I'm glad I did because I did get a laugh out of it.) Was able to relax and not pressure myself as much as I did with Lush and Gaudy Landscape.

Open Cities Reborn was what kicked it off for me. Only just tried it for the first time a few days ago and I was knocked out. Finally the cities seemed worth loitering in. And, that lead to the inevitable: For the first time I really took a good look at the interiors and exteriors and all the things I'd previously ignored. Was at a loose end, so I thought, why not tweak it?

Unfortunately, there was no way to keep it small because one thing invariably led to another.

At any rate, it is what it is. I don't pretend it will be perfect or even pleasing to anyone but myself. I'm just sharing it because it's one more choice to pick from.

It's also not a bad one for people like myself who can't run ultra high resolution mods. Combined with good normal maps, this mod will really change the feel of your game. Certainly not in terms of quality compared to the many lovely high res texture mods out there, but in terms of colour it will give you something fairly unique.

Let's face it - at some point there HAD to be a few new buildings in Cyrodiil :S Can't have always been washed out and dingy grey...

I realise there is a happy medium out there between the dullness of Vanilla and the over-saturated hell of my Lush and Gaudy mods, but in case you haven't noticed by now, I am a colour extremist!

I hope a few of you will enjoy this and I hope those that don't have an easy time un-installing it ;)

--------------------------

*TWEAKING POTENTIAL*

Not so much an in depth set of tweaks, but rather a general commentary on what you can and can't do:

Essentially, if you're a bit streetwise and willing to have a thorough look through the folder structure of the mod, you'll see that you can technically install some elements while skipping others.

You could choose to only install certain towns, or just the furnishings, or skip the paintings, etc.

This isn't really an instruction, it's just a reminder to take the time to look at what you have and to remember that you can use it in a more modular way.

There's nothing wrong with having a mix of Vanilla and gaudy. In fact, given that certain Vanilla elements still remain even with this mod fully installed, it won't do any harm to be more selective about what you install ;)
